Find gaps and listicles
Last updated [DATE]
In the Sources panel, turn on Gaps only to see sites cited in answers that name a competitor but never in one that names your brand, and Listicles only to see list-style pages.
Who can do this: everyone with access to the project.
Steps
- On the project dashboard, go to Sources.
- Under Show, pick Domains (one row per site) or URLs (one row per page).
- Turn on Gaps only. Each row has a Gap badge: "Cited with competitors, never with Brindlepath".
- Turn on Listicles only to see list-style pages ("best…", "top 10…", "…alternatives", "vs").
- Turn on both to see list pages that answers cite alongside competitors but never in an answer that names you. These are good outreach targets.
- Use Type to narrow by source type (Your site, Competitor, UGC, Reference, Editorial, Corporate).
- Select a row, then See the answers that cite it to read those answers.
What you should see
Gaps are listed first, then by the number of answers, then by times cited. The columns show Answers, Naming Brindlepath and Competitors named.
We find list pages from the words in their URL and title; we don't read the page itself, so a few are missed or mislabelled.
If it doesn't work
- "No sources match these filters.": select Clear filters, or widen the date range.
- "No sources cited in this window.": the answers in this window cite no sites.
- Your own and your competitors' sites are never gaps.
